The Weekly Record

Archibald McNee, a former editor of the Winnipeg Free Press, had been the owner of the daily Evening Record for 2 years when he added the Weekly Record for subscription in 1890.

The original Record printing building for both papers on Riverside Drive disappeared with many others in the Great Fire of Windsor on October 12, 1871, and the new location (shown below) was in the Leys Block on Sandwich Street West, just west of Ferry Street.

Record Building

There was overlap in stories between the daily and weekly publications, but the Weekly Record often had longer pieces on local topics. Both the daily and weekly publications were rolled into the Border Cities Star with W. F. Herman and Hugh Graybiel's purchase of the Record in 1918.
