Notes: c. 1905; this is not the Shore Acres in Windsor that was built in 1925; this Shore Acres was built c.1875 by Henry and Francis Chappell in the Ojibway area; it probably faced the river; it was famous for its mashed potatoes; it was still standing in 1920 and being used by the U.S. Steel Corporation as a hospital; later they opened their better known hotels - the Mineral Springs Hotel and the Chappell House Hotel (Detroit Free Press, Nov. 21, 1920, p.9-10). |
