c. 1960; "These white concrete silos will hold up to 30 million pounds of refined sugar in bulk. Part of Eastern Canada's largest beet sugar refinery, the Canada and Dominion Sugar Company plant of Chatham, Ontario, these silos are plainly visible from King's Highway Two, and at night the red neon C-D SUGAR sign atop them can be seen for many miles. The sugar-beet crop is an important one in agriculturally rich Kent county, surrounding Chatham."
