Postmarked 1909; the Michigan Central Railway Station was constructed in 1887; on August 10, 1907, 5000 lbs of nitro-glycerine ignited in a railway car, causing an explosion that killed 2 men, caused $250,000.00 in property damage and injured many others; the railway was fined $125,000.00 to pay for the reconstruction of the station and other damaged buildings, which took over 2 years to complete; the postcard is addressed to Mrs. J. H. Clayton.
